Qualification Description

A one year preparatory qualification that allows students to develop existing technical skills and knowledge to prepare for work in the live performance industry the dance industry and can be used as a pathway into further study options such as Certificate IV or Diploma qualification in Dance and/or Dance Teaching and Management.

Each area of study allows for the student to build resilience and knowledge required to achieve competency and develop their dance performance skills, combining a variety of practical performance and theory components.

Assessment is conducted by practical in class observations, rehearsals, performances, written assignments, in class activities and theory-based requirements.

SACE Credits

Students who complete their Certificate III in Dance can achieve a maximum of 75 Stage 2 credits to put towards their SACE Certificate and 20 points towards their ATAR.

 

Contact Hours

3x weekly dance/technique classes over 12 months (Mon-Fri after-school hours and Saturdays)

1x theory class per week (time to be advised)

NB: Dance/Technique class times will vary depending upon skill level.

 

Pre-Requisites and Minimum Age

There are no pre-requisites, however applicants are required to attend a private audition in person demonstrating competence of at least one dance genre. Minimum age of 14 years or school year 10.

 

Tuition

The Certificate III in Dance is $1,650 + GST plus the cost of dance/technique classes throughout the 12-month period.

 

A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required upon acceptance to the course.

A term by term payment is offered.

Qualification Description

This one-year course is designed to provide intensive training for students seeking to achieve a high level of competency in dance where students can choose to focus on any number of dance genres via elective opportunities. 

 

With its personal approach, the Certificate IV course provides performing arts training in a supportive environment, offering classes including, but not limited to: Classical Ballet, Classical Variations, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Drama, Stretch & Strength, Conditioning and Core, Progressing Ballet Technique, Acrobatics  and industry lectures to help enhance performance skills and career development.

 

Graduate of this course often consider auditioning for a Diploma of Dance as a means of furthering their training and professional development.

Contact Hours

Approximately 20 hours per week with training hours taking place between 4:00pm – 8:30pm Monday-Friday and Saturdays with exact hours and times dependent upon electives.

There are no pre-requisites, however applicants are required to attend a private audition in person demonstrating competence of at least one dance genre at a Certificate III level. Minimum age of 15 years.

 

SACE Credits

Students who complete their Certificate IV in Dance can achieve a maximum of 95 Stage 2 credits to put towards their SACE Certificate and 20 points towards their ATAR.

 

Tuition

The Certificate IV in Dance is $8,800 + GST which is paid as $4,400 per semester.

A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 + GST is required upon acceptance to the course.

Students have access to all GWB Studios general classes after hours at no additional cost (excluding privates and solo vocal coaching).

 

Funding

Students completing the Certificate IV in Dance have access to government funding of approx. $4000 towards the fees nominated above, should they have completed year 12. At the time of enrolment, registration for government funding is arranged.
