Diploma of Musical Theatre
GWB Studios provides first class industry-linked performance training in classical ballet,
contemporary, lyrical, jazz, tap and musical theatre.
Bridging the gap from performing arts education to the professional industry through big sister
commercial producer GWB Entertainment (including Jagged Little Pill, An American in Paris, Girl from
the North Country, West Side Story, Matilda, School of Rock, CATS and A Christmas Carol) and extensive
networks of Australian and International industry connections.
In an industry first, GWB has partnered with The University of Adelaide, the highest ranked university
in South Australia and ranked in the top 100 of universities worldwide, to deliver the Diploma of
Musical Theatre, with students training two days per week on campus at the prestigious Elder
Conservatorium in the centre of Adelaide’s cultural hub exclusively benefiting from the expertise of
university faculty and facilities.
Jointly our highly trained faculty and team of industry experts deliver the elite standard of training
required for future artists to succeed.
The Diploma of Musical Theatre is a one-year intensive course that trains students to become a ‘triple
threat’: singer, dancer and actor. The course is industry driven, and students will learn from practicing
professionals and leading tutors from the performing arts industry.
At the end of the course, students will present a live showcase of their work attended by
entertainment industry practitioners, producers and agents.
The Diploma of Musical Theatre provides a range of graduate pathways into the industry and equips
you with the knowledge and skills to perform the following functions associated with the performing
• Develop skills in solo and ensemble singing, dancing and acting.
• Prepare to work as a performer in musical theatre and cabaret productions.
• Develop creative skills.
• Develop autonomy in responding to and creating complex theatrical roles.
Students are expected to apply theory and creative skills in different performance and rehearsal
contexts and to display initiative and judgement in planning creative activities.
Applicants seeking admission must:
• Have completed their Higher School Certificate or equivalent; ATAR is not required.
• Demonstrate a high level of practical ability, potential and motivation at the interview or audition.
• Complete the interview/audition requirements for the course.
We select applicants who:
• Demonstrate skills in signing, dancing and acting.
• Exhibit a capacity to collaborate.
• Communicate effectively.
• Respond to direction and feedback.

As graduates of the Diploma of Musical Theatre, students will gain the performance skills and theory
knowledge to be employed in a range of industries including television, film, theatre and radio.
Potential careers include musical theatre performer, singer, dancer, actor, cabaret performer.

Approximately 20 hours per week with practical training hours taking place between 9:00am – 8:30pm
Monday-Friday and Saturdays with exact hours and times dependent upon electives.
The Diploma of Musical Theatre is $14,990 + GST which is paid as $3,747.50 plus GST per term.
A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 + GST is required upon acceptance into the course.
Students have access to all GWB Studios general classes after hours at no additional cost (excluding
Troupe Choreographic Intensives, Classical Extension Program, privates and solo vocal coaching).
The Diploma of Musical Theatre is not subject to government funding, however through our
partnership with ZeeFi, students have the option to Study Now and Pay Later. Borrow your GWB
Studios course fees with ZeeFi’s interest-fee, flexible repayments, should you not qualify for

All accredited courses with GWB Studios are delivered under an auspice arrangement with Australian Teachers of Dancing Limited RTO
