Diploma students have the elective option to exclusively benefit from the expertise of university faculty and facilities at the prestigious Elder Conservatorium.

Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working or aspiring to work as performers in musical theatre and cabaret productions. Individuals are expected to apply theory and creative skills in different performance and rehearsal contexts and to display initiative and judgement in planning creative activities. They demonstrate leadership in performing complex creative and technical operations and can be responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating the work of others within broad but generally well-defined parameters.

The job roles that relate to this qualification may include musical theatre performer, cabaret performer, or session vocalist.

Individuals must complete an audition or provide another form of evidence which demonstrates their competence in at least one dance style equivalent to Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level 4 or above.

Contact Hours

 Approximately 20-25 hours per week with practical training hours taking place between 9am – 4:30pm

Monday-Thursday with exact hours and times dependent upon electives.

Weekly theory lesson for 2 hours [day and time TBA]

 

Pre-Requisites and Minimum Age 

There are no pre-requisites, however applicants are required to attend a private audition in person demonstrating competence of at least one dance genre at a Certificate IV level. Minimum age of 16 years.

 

Auditions

Entry to this course is by application and self tape consisting of voice, scene work and choreography.

Closing date for submissions: Sunday 28 January 2024, subject to availability.

 

Tuition 

The Diploma of Musical Theatre is $14,990 + GST which is paid as $3,747.50 plus GST per term.

A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 + GST is required upon acceptance to the course.

Students have access to all GWB Studios general classes after hours at no additional cost (excluding CEP, privates and solo vocal coaching).

Should students choose to enrol into the four electives offered by Adelaide University, additional fees of $3,780 will apply.

A term-by-term payment plan can be arranged.
